The Freeman/Lozier Library offers subscription boxes. Well, if you look at it in a certain light, you could say we do. The definition of a subscription box is a group of physical products packaged in a box and delivered to customers on a regular, recurring schedule. There are all kinds of subscription boxes out there such as: meal kits, clothing, pets, crafts, babies, learning, and beauty products all catered to meet your needs. The Freeman/Lozier Library offers this service in two unique ways.
One of the ways we do this is our LibGuides. A LibGuide is a content management and information sharing system designed specifically for libraries. The platform allows for easy navigation through and instruction on core and relevant resources in a particular subject field, class, or assignment. There are five ways you can search a LibGuide at our library: All Guides, By Group, By Subject, By Type, and By Owner. Currently, we have 163
LibGuides from Academic Assessment Committee to Writing Resources. Searching by Groups consist of: Career Coaching Center, Library, New Student Orientation, Tutoring, and Writing Center. Searching by Subjects range from Accounting to Web-based instruction. The four Types are: Course Guide, General Purpose, Subject Guide, and Topic Guide. The LibGuide itself contains all the resources: books, ebooks, databases, journal articles, organizations, streaming videos, tutorials, and websites about that subject. It is a comprehensive collection of resources to help you do research.
Another way that the Freeman/Lozier Library is like a subscription box is our Library on the Go service. On a quarterly basis, a team of library staff take some library resources including books, kindles, and DVD’s up to the Educational Services Building, which is on the upper part of campus. The purpose of Library
on the Go is to assist patrons who do not come into the library to make informed decisions on monthly themes and check out library materials. Patrons can check out any available items on the list which can be sent to their office or home address. About three to four weeks in advance, several book talk videos will be released, featuring one to two books per video. They will be posted to both our TikTok and our Facebook pages leading up to the Library on the Go event. About two weeks in advance, a More Than Books Podcast will be released through the Facts From the Stacks blog platform and on iTunes. The podcast discusses the authors and books that will be at the upcoming Library on the Go.
So, as you can see, the Freeman/Lozier library does have “subscription boxes” to serve and meet your needs. If you have a topic or subject that you would like covered for a LibGuide or Library on the Go, let us know. You can reach us at email@example.com.
