One of the least used but still important business databases is Key Business Ratios. The database has information on competitive industry benching marking information that focuses on over 800 public and private companies.
The key categories are solvency, efficiency, and profitability. Solvency Ratios present the financial soundness of a company and how it can meet its short term and long-term goals. Efficiency Ratios check the quality of receivables and the efficiency of asset control; measure the effectiveness of payment to supplier; and evaluate over the under-trading on equity. Profitability Ratios study how profit is earned relative to sales, total sales, and net worth.
The database is broken down into two main tabs: Reports and Ratios. Regardless of which option you choose, the most useful tool for most Bellevue University students is the Line of Business tool. It covers everything from Agricultural Production – Crops to Wrecking and Demolition Work. Key Business becomes even more instructive when you use the Company link under Industry in both Reports and Ratios where specific company information can be a real game changer. Knowing the NAISC code of the company you are interested in researching can make the process go even quicker.
Key Business Ratios can be accessed directly from the Database list, located in the “Find” drop-down menu on the Bellevue University Library’s homepage.
