January 31st is a special day to those who have a passion for the arts as it is observed and known as “Inspire Your Heart With Art Day.” The arts take on many faces—it can be visual, auditory, written, creative, etc. Regardless of how you define it, “art” fits into approximately 10 genres—architecture, fashion, film, graphic design, illustration, literature, music, painting, sculpture, and theater.
Why is art inspiring? One could argue that it is a reflective impression of the soul and allows you to express that inner talent. Art also influences society—it allows people from different cultures to communicate with each other through images, sounds and stories. Art is often a means for social change—it could be a method to raise awareness and encourage others to rally behind a cause.
Art is pleasing for a variety of reasons and can often improve our quality of life. Art can affect our mood in a positive way, making us feel happier and calmer. Art is all around us—sculpture in parks, posters on walls, music on the radio, books we read, etc., inspiring us to open our hearts and minds to new concepts and possibilities.
What or who inspires you? Adventure? New things? Challenges? Family and/or friends? Teachers? Faith? Happiness? Now is the time to act on those inspirations by sharing your art with others. This is what today is all about; therefore, here are just a few suggestions to get you started:
