Here, at the library, we always look for new products and/or ways to assist students with their research. Over the summer of 2020, we added several new resources to our online databases and website. One of these resources was BrowZine, a new tablet and mobile friendly tool for browsing and viewing library journals. BrowZine helps you visualize the journals within our collection. This is done by intuitively organizing journals the library subscribes to. In addition to a beautiful layout that helps make navigation easier, results will show you more direct .pdf links and more images for journals.
Not only does BrowZine assist in search results for journals, it is utilized to enhance the EBSCO Discovery search results on the Bellevue University Library home page. This is also done by adding more direct .pdf links, images for journals, and allowing you to view the journal in BrowZine instead of numerous databases. In order to access BrowZine, go to the Databases page of the library website and click on the “B” under the Browse by title section. Our journals have always been accessible from our EBSCO A-Z Journal listing but this product may be used as an alternative or replacement.
BrowZine is easy to navigate as you just type a topic into the search bar and the results will pop up in a separate column. This search function allows you to look for topics within journals and it will also provide journals that are related to topics you search for. As an example, if you look for cooking it will give you journals as well as specific articles on cooking. You can even store titles of interest in your “bookshelf,” a storage area on BrowZine that allows you to hold titles you need. It notifies you of articles that relate to the topic, as well as, allows you to read these saved articles offline on your app. Download the app for your tablet or smartphone, available for ios and android.
