‘Tis the Season

Now that December is here, it means the holidays are right around the corner.  It also means that it is time to mention the Library’s latest display case!

December Display Case

In this display, we are featuring library staff member, Margie McCandless, and her fabulous gingerbread house creations.  Margie has spent several hours on the intricate details of each of the three gingerbread houses and is giving Bellevue University students and staff/faculty members a chance to win one of them!  Entry forms can be found at Circulation/Reference Desks.

Also in the display, you can read about the origins of the holidays: Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa.   The following traditions and related symbols are also mentioned:   Candy Canes, Christmas Cards, Christmas Trees, Egg Nog, Mistletoe, Nativity Scenes, Poinsettias, Yule Log, and the English Traditions – Christmas Pudding and Nutcrackers.  You can also find a miniature Christmas village on the bottom shelf of the display.  And last, but not least, a snowman family handcrafted by Charlotte Bernstein (mother of Robin Bernstein, Senior Library Director) will be sure to catch your attention.

We hope you enjoy the December display case.  Remember, if you cannot make it to the Library to see this, you can view this display on the Library’s Pinterest Board Display Case.
