LibGuide on Hot Topics: Gender

The Library’s “Hot Topics” series continues to grow with the addition of its third LibGuide, which covers the topic of “Gender.” This LibGuide features a wide selection of resources that cover the intricacies of gender.

Starting out on the home page, you will see an interactive gender mind map and a map showing levels of gender protection across the United States. In the “Introduction to Gender” section there is a list of sources that help give an overview of gender, including Gender Identity and Third Gender. This page also includes a Gender Identity Slide Show which features charts such as Self-Reported Masculinity and Femininity, Perceived Importance of Being Viewed as Masculine or Feminine, and Views on Transgender People.

The books, e-books, journals, and other sources listed in this LibGuide cover gender and a variety of related subjects.  Why is Gender Identity so Important? and Gender Terms Explained are good starting points for understanding what gender means.
