On Friday, June 2nd and Saturday, June 3rd, smiles and laughter filled the campus as Bellevue University graduates celebrated with their families and friends on completing their educational milestone. On Friday, Bellevue University students and their guests attended a Graduation Open House in the Margre H. Durham Student Center on the main campus.At the Open House, students met with professors and advisers, connected with fellow graduates, and received Bellevue University alumni information.
On Saturday, at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Bellevue University graduates donned their cap and gown regalia to walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. This year commemorated the largest graduating class in Bellevue University history with 830 graduates, including 80 students from China, who came to begin their studies at Bellevue University two years ago. Bellevue University also had its youngest student graduate at only 13 years old! Many supportive guests traveled from near and far to watch their friends and family members walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. Nebraska’s 40th Governor Pete Ricketts was the commencement speaker. Pete Ricketts discussed the qualities of a good leader and encouraged graduates to remain hopeful, especially during the challenging times that happen in one’s life.
After the ceremony, families were reconnected with their graduate in the Exhibition Hall where graduates and families took photos to share their time together and to celebrate the graduates’ accomplishments. Congratulations Class of 2017!
