On a cool, crisp fall morning at Bellevue University, 248 staff, faculty, and students banded together for the annual BRUIN Pride Walk/Run on Sunday, October 2, 2016. The purpose of the event was to bring together the Bellevue University community and to support the Bellevue University Athletics Department.
The event was organized by Bellevue University employees Rob Brown, (Head Coach of Men’s Golf), Dorene Narofsky, Lisa Jorgensen, and Lesley LaBoy. Each participant signed in and was given a number (also known as a bib) to pin on their shirts.
The participants started at the Student Center on the Bellevue University campus and then traversed through the neighborhood surrounding the campus, which consisted of several challenging steep and slow-climbing hills. The course then circled back to finish at the Student Center where participants received their times.
The winners for the 5K run were Craig Christians and Maiwut Dar with times of 18:29 and 22:12 respectively. The 2.5 run winners were Inaki Aldao with a time of 10:24 and Faustina Peve with a time of 10:25. Prizes were awarded to the top male and female runners in each division.
All proceeds received at this event will support the Bellevue University Athletics Department programs.
